Sri Lankan Legend Lasith Malinga pulled his name out for the IPL 2020. On Wednesday 2nd September Mumbai Indians announced that Malinga has made himself unavailable and will be replaced by James Pattinson. As per the franchise, the unavailability is due to personal reasons and 38-year-old Legend will spend his time at home with his family.
Lasith Malinga has been a key factor in the success of the franchise. He is the all-time highest wicket-taker in all of the IPL with 170 wickets to his name in 122 matches. His 19.80 average and 7.14 economy state about his contribution. His skills and experience helped Mumbai Indians save 9 runs in the last year’s Finals.
The replacement James Pattison will join the team on the weekend. Pattison is yet to play his first IPL match and only have an experience of 4 T20Is. 30-year-old Australian fast bowler has played a total of 39 T20 matches with 47 wickets to his name. In the 39 matches he has played, his Average has been 24.12, and an economy of 8.25 runs per over.
