CD Projekt Red the developers behind the most anticipated game not only to this generation but probably ever announced today that the game will be 100% backward compatible with the next-gen consoles namely PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. In a tweet from the official Cyberpunk 2077, account developers confirmed the backward compatibility.
The news was welcomed throughout the gaming community as you can now enjoy your Ps4 or Xbox one copy of the game on the next-gen console whenever you decide to upgrade. And if you plan to get it as your first PS5 or Xbox Series X game you certainly have a great option in your hand.
The good news didn’t end just there. Further, a free upgrade to Cyberpunk 2077, taking full advantage of the next-gen hardware, will be available was confirmed. This will likely be a graphical upgrade, visuals plus lighting upgrades like ray tracing, using next Gen features like adaptive triggers, 3d sound, and/or reductions in load times. CD Project Red has become an industry leader with the success of Witcher 3. And certainly has set a very good example for the industry.
Though this all happen a day after the game was officially delayed. Earlier the game was all set to release on September 17 which is not delayed to September 19. CD Projekt Red in an official statement mentioned that the game needs some more development time to get polished. The main content of the game like cutscenes, gameplay, and content is said to be finished in development. But with the complexity of the game and the branching story the developer needed more time to go through everything. The delay was received mostly positively by the community and the fans.
It should be noted that the PS5 is leaked and rumored to release on November 20. Just a day after the new Cyberpunk release date. So Cyberpunk is most likely to be a launch title in a sense. With the day 1 compatibility, it’s ensured no matter when you upgrade to next-gen you can play your favorite game on it.
